Comment with your favorite horror movie (or your favorite movie in general if you don't like horror!) to get a purple candy! You don't have to explain why, but I'd love to hear if you do!
Okay, the Covenant isn't really horror, but it has some horror elements (spiders) that mean not enough people will watch it with me even though it is hilarious. The movie is pretty, but the acting is... not great, and there are a lot of lines that end up being funny because of that. However, I love this movie! I watch it every Halloween and enjoy it genuinely, but it's... not a great movie. Lots of eyecandy, though. (It is about a group of boys at a prep school that have a ~secret~ aka witchy powers that have terrible consequences when you use them too much. The powers have been passed down in their families since the Salem witch trials I think, and there were five families that used to have them but one of those families died out a long time ago. OR DID THEY.)
Also, if you haven't seen the Craft, that movie is also horror-lite but less cheesy. (It gets compared to the Covenant a lot, which is why I thought of it as I was trying to write out a summary, and it is objectively better on every level when it comes to spooky Halloween movies. I like it too. But the Covenant is the movie I rewatch every year, so I guess I just find more entertainment value out of bad movies than good ones.)
I don't have a favourite movie in particular but the most recent one I watched was Midsommar and it was really creepy and uncomfortable, partly because it felt kinda like something that would happen in my country...
I loved the Craft! Fairuza Balk was amazing in that, wasn't she? The Coven, though- that one's been sitting in my Netflix list for far too long. Thank you for leaving a review and a synopsis, it's very persuasive, especially since so-not-great-it's-great movies are amazing. PLUS pretty boys? With powers?? I'll definitely give it a watch soon!
Midsommar was definitely creepy despite all the gorgeous scenery- that ending was oddly cathartic, though. A break-up movie, pretty much! Thank you for sharing!
She was. Such an excellent performance! Tbh, I'm probably due for a rewatch of the Craft, I'll have to dig that one out... I hope you enjoy the Covenant when you get around to watching it! (& thanks for the candy. ♥)
I don't like scary movies :( Favorite Halloween movies are definitely the Addams Family/Addams Family Values though! they're so fun and clever and I appreciate the Halloween aesthetic without any scary stuff haha.
